Dance with Antigel

The dance program of the Antigel Festival 2017 has lots of love and sensuality. Here are my personal recommandations (if you were to ask me):
Embrase-moi (i.e. set me on fire) by Kaori Ito and Théo Touvet (Thursday, February 16th and Friday, February 17th at the Red Cross museum, 20.- full fare, book online). Kaori Ito is a dancer i’ve seen perform on many occasions: Plexus, Asobi and je danse car je me méfie des mots (i.e. I dance because I wary of words) and if I had to write a brief portrait of the artist (whom Nathalie interviewed on My Big Geneva, click here to read it in French), I would write that she explores the human relationships through dance. In this new contemporary creation, she offers us alongside Théo Touvet her love diary, exploring emotions – from the beginning of a relationship until its end. You’ll see her passionate, you’ll see her sad, you’ll see her physically attracted or in pain because love can be danced in so many different ways.

In case you’d like to practice your French, the Antigel Festival has scheduled a reading by a very famous writer called Virginie Despentes who published in 1993 a novel which became a cult: Baise-moi, (i.e. rape me). I have read the book and ever since, Nadine and Manu and their violent quest for sexual aggressiveness has left a mark. Hearing the sound of a voice, after reading her words, is like a dream come true for me. She told the Antigel Festival that she is coming to the festival to pay a literary debt to the Requiem of the innocents by Louis Calaferte. The rock band Zëro will come along. Expect something like an incision, maybe a reflection of the society we live in (Friday, January 25th at the Salle Madeleine, 30.- full fare, book online).

Finally, my last recommandation is totally different: a dance and beat makers battle will take place on Saturday, February the 11th (single price 15.-, book online): 8 dancers will compete through hip-hop directed by MC Vicelow.
