Idyllic haven for lovers of malt beverages, Au Coin Mousse offers an exhilarating selection of 21 draft beers. In this bar, just a few steps from Place des Grottes, Belgium, Holland, Great Britain, Denmark and Switzerland, among others, are eminently represented by their most specialized artisan breweries. Just as well because it’s aperitif time and we’re rushing out of the office to grab a drink at the Coin Mousse (the foam corner). Standing in front of the overwhelming choice of beers listed on the black chalkboard, one doesn’t even know where to begin. Luckily, Julien and Yannick, the two bartenders, are there to help amateurs and neophytes alike navigate the menu, and generously pour Stout from the Trois Dames brewery or some of Père Jakob’s Golden Ale. The regulars, disconcerted by this bar that changes its beers as often as it does its glasses, are compelled to be unfaithful to their favourite beverages. But the night is young and there is plenty of time to taste the Am’wheat from the Nébueuse brewery, with its light body and citrus flavour, offering a refreshing trip to California. Then there is the Vermeilleuse by Geneva’s brewery La Pièce, a delicious amber, bitter and fruity beer, perfect to start the evening.
Having opened almost a year ago, Au Coin Mousse is a bar that is rich in flavours and foamy discoveries. In fact, a sampling formula is offered at the counter, and if you peek into the fridges, the choice widens drastically. Bottled beers, as numerous as draft beers, provide a whole new set of possibilities, such as gluten free or alcohol free. For all you beer lovers out there: cheers!
