4 your eyes only…

The 23rd edition of the GIFF will take place from November 3rd until the 11th, as you may have heard. More than 170 visual works of art, 12 world premieres, 88 Swiss premieres (your head must be spinning around right?) will be presented during the Festival. Here’s a Big selection, 4 your eyes only…

Holy Air (Avir Kadosh) / Swiss Premiere
Israel, 2017, 81 min, Arabic, Hebrew, English, French, Italian subtitles English.
Monday, November 6th @ 7.30pm @ Pitoëff in presence of Shady Srour.
Synopsis: Adam and Lamia live in Nazareth. They are Arab and Christian. When Lamia gets pregnant, Adam tries selling a new product: holy air. An absurd and exhilarating comedy, where Jewish, Christian and Muslim morons are treated with happy equality.

How To Talk To Girls @ Parties / Swiss Premiere
United Kingdom, United States, 2017, 102 min, English subtitles French.
Friday, November 10th @ 9pm @ Cinerama Empire.
Synopsis: a leading author of queer cinema – Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Shortbus – JC Mitchell returns with a glam-punk comedy featuring Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and all sorts of aliens dressed in latexand in London at the time of The Sex Pistols. Tacky, funny and flamboyant.

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami / Avant Premiere
United Kingdom, Ireland, 2017, 115 min, English subtitles French.
Wednesday, November 8th @ 9.45pm @ Pitoëff.
Synopsis: few show business personalities dare to show themselves as they are on screen, but that is exactly what Grace Jones does in this dynamic documentary by Sophie Fiennes, Ralph and Joseph’s talented sister. Tough, tenacious, aggressive but also funny and sometimes out of it. Fascinating.

Les Derniers Parisiens (Paris Prestige) / Swiss Premiere
France, 2016, 106 min, French subtitles English.
Friday, November 10th @ 9pm @ Pitoëff in presence of Mohamed Bourokba, Ekoué Labitey, Slimane Dazi.
Synopsis: fresh out of prison, Nas returns to Pigalle to meet up with his friends and his brother Arezki, owner of the Prestige bar. Nas is determined to regain his reputation. Reda Kateb and Slimane Dazi enhance this disillusioned ode to Paris, written by two former members of French band La Rumeur.

The Artists / International premiere
2016, 47 min, Polish subtitles English, French.
Sunday, November 5th @ 8.30pm @ Pitoëff & Wednesday, November 8th @ 12.30am @ Arditi.
Synopsis: actors discover the hanging body of the director on the stage of a great Polish theater. His successor will soon understand why that man felt the urge to end his days. A scathing satire of theater and its vicissitudes.
