La Taverne du Valais

The Swiss (Valais) “indoor barbecue” was invented right here, in 1968. M. & Ms Schmidt (don’t expect to meet the Bradjolie) prepare the in-house speciality called the charbonnade. Everyone is free to grill the meat its own way as each table offers a real brazier. Meat, fish or vegetables are served with a wide choice of home made sauces made by Ms Schmidt and her daughter.
You may sit inside or enjoy the Big terrace with trees and flowers. Have I mentioned the home made Swiss fries?
The atmosphere is as cool as an outdoor barbecue among family and friends. The service is impeccable. And it seems like yesterday, when my brother took me for a surprise and very last minute Sunday dinner at the Taverne du Valais.
