Small, medium size and Big screens keep us company on a daily basis and for every year during the past 21 years; the Geneva International Film Festival Tous Ecrans celebrates them during the period of one week. And every year, the festival keeps surprising us by showing us how to use these screens in every  possible way: unlimited capabilities captured for our eyes only.

This is even more true as Emmanuel Cuenod is the artistic director since 2013 and during today’s press conference, he told me: “I am going to tell you what this festival is not capable of: it’s not capable of doing what everybody else does”. The festival clearly aims at building bridges between the different worlds of images and highlights their differences.

This 21st edition is definitely going to be Big. Let me share with you my schedule during the one week, where I’ve already told my family and friends that I won’t be reachable at any time because I am meeting with:

– Hou Hsiao-Hsien on November 6th and The Assassin.
– the actor Michael Nouri (who played in the series Flashdance, NCIS, Cold Case, etc…) who will present the series’ behind the scenes secrets during a public conversation on November 7th.
Anton Corbijn on November 13th, his latest movie Life and a display of his videoclips of Arcade Fire, Metallica, Nirvana, Depeche Mode. The festival will give him the Film & Beyond award and I can’t wait to applaud him for his incredible talent.
– Chow Yun-Fat on November 14th in the movie “Office” by Johnnie To for the closing event of the festival.

In between those important meetings, I intend to discover the TV and Web Series during the Serial Day & Night where all of the coming next series’ pilot episodes will be screened; I will attend a 360 degrees projection inside the Digital Garden (and even do some interstellar yoga in it) and have a few Sleepless Nights in Geneva with Serge Bozon and Asia Argento who as DJs will entertain us.

The good news is that you can do the same (or even more); and trust me, November in Geneva will never look the same after that.

From November 6th until the 14th
