What if you were to go back in time with elegancy? This summer, the must-see exhibition is a few miles away from Geneva … at the Bolle Foundation in Morges. After the museums of Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and Gemeente in The Hague, Morges is hosting the retrospective of a name that sounds like a dream: Hubert de Givenchy – to Audrey with love. The fashion designer, known to be very discreet, pays a tribute to his muse and shows us 40 years of friendship and complicity. Tailor-made dresses, dream silhouettes, personal photographs and intimate testimonies illustrate the story of an actress who became a legend. Little flashback of this famous friendship…
In 1953, the fragile and sparkling Audrey Hepburn, yet unknown, entered the workshop of Givenchy. She wasn’t welcomed. The angry fashion designer expected to meet Katharine Hepburn. She had to go back from where she came from, without a dress for her next movie. But then came a second chance, during a dinner where the debutante let her charm operate. That dinner was the beginning of one of the most beautiful stories in the fashion world. You will feel nostalgia in front of Givenchy designs while discovering all the outfits of Hepburn’s filmography. Satin, crepe or silk… and the famous little black dress from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Audrey used to say about her favourite designer: “Givenchy’s clothes are the only ones in which I feel myself“. Lesson of elegance, idyll of a lifetime, masterpieces and amazing collections… which will leave you with a little taste of paradise.
