The museums of Geneva

The museums of Geneva contain the historical, artistic and societal secrets of the city of Calvin. They are a mandatory stop, a kind of visual encyclopedia: a very effective way to explore our city, especially on Sundays. Diversity and openness preveal, whether in the fields of art, technology, civilization or natural sciences. In this thrilling 21st century, museums were to adapt and see Big. Virtual tour, multimedia, Smartphone applications, etc. Their goal? To surprise us and often remind us of the past, which can explain the present.
Our top 4: the Rath Museum, the Maison Tavel, the Museum of Art and History and the Cabinet of Graphic Arts. But not only… because how can you decide between the MEG, the United Nations Museum, the Baur Foundation (a piece of jewel) or the Ariana Museum? The only way to do so is to visit them all and start over again as the Geneva museums’ temporary exhibitions are set up throughout the year.
In the meantime, please don’t mention Wikipedia because to compete with human contact, the live discovery of a work of art and not through a screen that distorts the colours and prevents any emotion, is mission impossible.
Let us end with the words of the author of the Musée imaginaire (André Malraux should you ask): “a museum is a place that gives the highest idea of mankind”.
