The village of Saas-Fee is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Alps” because of its seashell-like layout. It is located at the foot of the glacier at an altitude of 1,800 meters in the canton of Valais and enjoys 300 days of sun per year thanks to its privileged location in the south of the Swiss Alps.
This is where a couple decided to create The Capra and to welcome guests in search of authenticity.
The Capra was built to harmonize the relationship between mankind and nature, between the body and the mind. However, The Capra is not a boutique hotel. Nor a luxurious chalet. It is an alpine gem, authentic and contemporary at the same time.
Cornelia Destouches and her team will welcome you as discreetly as they are hospitable.
Every wish is granted: hiking, speed or cross-country skiing, open fires… swimming in the snow, sunbathing on the terrace, chatting with marmots depending on the season.
In a deluxe room or in a suite, breakfast is served at the foot of the bed or at the buffet; it combines taste with local produce and takes into consideration fragile and complicated stomachs. Divine.
Common spaces invite you to meet people or enjoy solitude. The Fun Lab offers table football and a smart play area; a wine cellar and a SPA can be booked upon your request. Indoor and outdoor pools; pilates, yoga or fitness studios; à la carte and tailor-made treatments.
Very few commercial signs spoil the scenery through the windows of The Capra.
Nearby, the Alpin metro takes you up to an altitude of 3,500m where you can ski all year round. The Mattmark natural dam in Saas-Almagell is quite impressive. A must-see: a Baroque curiosity… the circular church of Saas-Balen.
PS: Capra in Latin means goat. There are many adventurous goats in Saas-Fee and they are magnificent!
