Vangelis Papathanasiou’s latest stage production, “TO NHMA” (“the thread”) will be presented on Wednesday, August 31st at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. A unique opportunity to pay tribute to the BIG Greek composer.
This magnificent dance performance is based on the dialogue between the past and the present. On the one hand traditional Greek dances and on the other hand modern dance. Two seemingly opposite and foreign worlds, yet so similar.
This show manages to unite these two worlds and make them one. This is also the vision that Vangelis Papathanasiou embraced from the first moment.
The show refers to the myth of Ariadne’s thread. It is the thread that unites, the thread that leads, the thread that can give meaning to what at first sight seems disjointed, the thread that can take us through seemingly incompatible worlds, illuminating underground kinships that people are reluctant to accept. The common thread that, using the art of dance as a tool, reminds us of the basis of ancient Greek philosophy:
Of the multiple the one and of the one the multiple.
