Valérie Moser

I don’t like the word and the meaning of fashion: it makes me feel like the sheep that have to follow a specific trend, imposed by the media. I much prefer the words know-how and creativity. As a result, I create my own fashion. I watch people in the streets, I borrow, I even copy sometimes, mix, adapt, divert… and recreate just like Barbara Polla who wrote in her latest book that Nathalie recommended me to read: “fashion should always offer, never prescribe“. (The book is only available in French and is called Femmes hors normes.. i.e. uncanny women).
Valerie Moser has launched her latest collection and you should be familiar with this name because this is not the first time I write about her. I like to think that Valerie Moser builds bridges between art and fashion. She graduated from Central St Martins School and often takes off to Bali, looking for inspiration, material, design… She lives in Athens when she’s not in Bali. And I’ve followed her since her debut in fashion a couple of years ago.
Valerie Moser 2017 collection offers new clutch bags – Chaotic Bliss – where I find influences of Matisse or Chagall, mixed with street art. In her new art online shop, you can buy tote bags bearing the names Back To Life, Evil out or Merge… Valerie tells us a story, that’s what I like about her work. She has also put her drawings online (finally! I’ve been waiting for that moment since a long time) because everything starts with a drawing. Buying a piece of Valerie Moser design, hang it or carry it, is being part of a story and above all, not wanting to be like everyone else.
