The Théâtre du Léman presents the Finnish rock orchestra Apocalyptica on Monday 6th February @ 8pm. Formed in 1993 by Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja and Antero Manninen (the latter is no longer part of the group), the orchestra is composed of cellists and a drummer (from the Megaphone group); they all graduated from the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki. Their particularity? A repertoire of heavy metal music between original compositions and covers (Metallica, Faith No More, Pantera, etc.).
Their current tour travels around Europe; however, only one concert is scheduled in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Their latest album (the 8th) was released in July 2016: Plays Metallica By Four Cellos Songs, an impromptu encounter between the songs of a legendary group and prodigious young cellists, a prophetic tribute most certainly …
